You want a tailored outplacement service for each person
Our mission is to help retrenched employees find work they want. Our services are tailored to the individual and help people to take their next step – whether that be to find another job, to make a career transition into a different type of role, to pursue new training or to transition to retirement.
Bridget is one of the few outplacement consultants who is DEWR age management accredited and has received specialised training to assist experienced retrenched employees to transition into retirement.
We work with clients to understand their goals and implement solutions which are perfectly tailored to their objectives.
You want support to manage the people aspects of change
We can help you manage the wider aspects of change. As well as on-site on the day support for you and your team who are giving the news of redundancies, we can help you plan and manage the people aspects of change to avoid resistance and survivor syndrome (where those who you wanted to stay become disillusioned or fearful and voluntarily leave anyway).
Bridget has helped many senior teams plan and manage change, understanding how people react in times of change and transition. She facilitates workshops for team leaders to help them manage the people aspects of change – and understand what their team need at different stages to help them move through with the least upset and resistance. Bridget also facilitates “Building Resilience” workshops for all employees that help people to anticipate, understand and manage their own thoughts and feelings during a time of change. These workshops include information, tools and techniques on building physical and psychological resilience and effective thinking strategies to be able to manage the personal stress that imposed change can bring.
You want an outplacement service that provides help to build resilience and optimism
Redundancy can be stressful. Mindset management is key to our outplacement service. We work with the psychology of the individual to boost their optimism, hope and personal efficacy and maintain their focus on moving forward to their next step. With our background in psychology, we provide support to maintain emotional equilibrium at a time that can be very stressful. We provide emotional support and introduce tools and techniques to outplaced employees to help them strengthen their psychological wellbeing.
Evidence based – backed up by data and testimonials
We measured the impact of our work over 7 key measures for over 500 of our job seekers in 2019 – 2021 and asked an external statistician to examine the data. The results showed job seekers who work with us make a statistically very highly significant improvement on each of 7 key measures (including mental health and wellbeing, making and utilising useful connections and understanding and using effective job search techniques). Our results speak for themselves. We help people find work they want.

Thanks again for this service – I contacted Peter just to congratulate him and get some feedback on the entire process. He was really happy with the service he was given at HR Dev at Work and felt you were a fantastic help for him. Nicola Hentschke, HR Manager, Churches of Christ Lifecare
I found the “Your Next Steps Jobseeker Program” highly useful for me. It helped me to improve my resume writing, interview and networking skills. I received useful advice with specific examples. The program gave me a better understanding on how to seek work in Australia. I recommend this program, especially for those who have recently arrived from overseas. Chris Nunez
I did not realise that I needed as much help with my CV, and interview technique as I did. I found the workshops a great help in presenting my CV in a style that encouraged employers to invite me for an interview. The work on answering interview questions, and the mock interviews were very helpful in improving my confidence, and my ability to answer interview questions… great advice. Michael Hughes
I found Bridget’s course (Next Steps Job Seeker workshop) extremely useful. It was interesting to see and hear the perspective of the interviewer and what they want to hear and see, and that gave me more confidence to be the interviewee. I found the SOAR acronym particularly helpful as it gave me a structure to answer all questions from the interviewer, both easy and difficult, and this made it much easier. The use of the words as a sentence starter was particularly helpful.
I also found my resume writing improved beyond measure. I also saw this from the employer’s perspective and understood more fully exactly what they would like to see in a resume. Bridget was an enthusiastic, patient and knowledgeable tutor. Brigeen Gilroy
I would really like to thank you for the support that you provided during the week after I was retrenched. The help with my resume and interview practice was invaluable, particularly as I hadn’t been unemployed for many years and was very much out of practice. It really boosted my confidence which I really appreciate.
Thank you also for your advice and support long after your contract with (my former employer) was completed. I attended most of the seminars you recommended and met with other people in my age group in a similar position. It can get very lonely while searching for employment and it was good to exchange ideas and stories with my peers.
Thank you once again. David Brewer
On behalf of the Southern Metropolitan Employment and Skills Formation Network (representing the DFEEST South Australia Works program) and the Cities of Onkaparinga and Marion, I would like to commend Development at Work Australia for their management and implementation of the recently completed Trades Promotion project. This workforce development project was initiated to professionally document immediate skills shortages in the region, to assist the Network develop training programs to match demand.
The Trades Promotion project ran from September 2005 to December 2006 and involved extensive industry consultation, data gathering, training program development and individual participant support (for both employers and jobseekers).
At around mid project there was a significant change in focus for the program in March 2006 (extending the program to December 2006) towards greater individual participant and group support, through targeted job seeker workshops. This eventuated as a reaction to the needs of the training participants, who were still no job ready after completing their various technical training courses. While Development at Work Australia was responsible for all aspects of the project, their strong human resource background, flexibility and project management skills enabled them to easily adapt to this change in focus from the original project brief.
There were two main successful outcomes from the project. These were:
The identification of local employers wanting to be involved in workforce development activities for their current and future staff (one employer received a State award for their involvement in a subsequent program resulting from this project).
The provision of individual and group support for a number of jobseekers identified through the project led to many gaining employment.
The success of the Trades Promotion Project was due to the skill and effort provided by Development at Work Australia and as a result I do not hesitate in recommending them for similar types of projects in future.

Bridget provided a very professional service when handling a difficult situation. I had never heard of outplacement services until I met Bridget. I investigated other outplacement options and decided to choose Development at Work Australia. I have been extremely pleased with the service and support that she provided. Elwyne Smith, Genesys Wealth Advisors
The interview was in 2 days time. My call for help went out. Bridget was great. She was able to accommodate me at short notice and provided me with really useful tools and resources as well as a very supportive and practical learning experience that no doubt aided my success in winning the position. Alison Martin, Previously Organisational Development Consultant, Educational Services, SA Ambulance Service
Hi Bridget, just a brief note to let ya know that I have cracked a new job… Yes I am very happy and wanted to say a big thank you for ya advice and support in this long and ongoing process. It was something I didn’t expect to happen, and I have been very angry that I have had to go thru the process. Hopefully this position will work out and I can move forward knowing that I can not change the past. Once again thank you, you have been a great support. Regards, Phil
Thank you for your assistance during my recent outplacement counselling sessions. I have no hesitation in saying that the sessions were major factor in my finding suitable employment so quickly. The personal meeting sessions were relaxed and productive. From the first session my confidence was raised…When first provided with the offer of outplacement counselling from my previous employer I had not really decided whether to take up the opportunity. I had a preconceived view of this type of counselling more as a stress or grief management service than as a pro-active employment training exercise…I may not even have contacted (Bridget) if you had not made the initial contact. Needless to say, I am now extremely glad you did… The entire program was extremely useful.

Bridget provided outplacement support for a number of people in 2001 when I worked at SA Brewing. Clearly there were some high emotions involved for individuals with this change and they all spoke glowingly of her ability to be supportive, objective and keep them focussed on what they had to do next. They were also quick to comment on Bridget’s genuine concern and how at ease they felt with her. Additionally, Bridget provided career counselling for another individual using a variety of techniques to help them come to the conclusion their current role was incompatible with what they truly wanted to be doing. She achieved what years of internal coaching had not been able to! I would have no hesitation calling on Bridget’s services again. Erin Taplin, formerly Organisational Development Manager, Carter Holt Harvey Consumer Brands (Melbourne)
As an associate to TPS, Bridget managed a large critical project for us with British Telecom, a major client. Her expertise meant she identified the critical issues very quickly and assisted senior managers to identify key issues to take into account in managing their change program. Dr. K. V. Coaley, Managing Director, Training and Psychological Services Ltd, Herts. UK
Bridget’s change program was adapted for us to address the needs of small business. We liked the content, the new ideas and the interactive presentation style – and this program is now part of our Better Business Series.
Highly recommended.” Tony De Vries formerly General Manager Small Business Services, Centre for Innovation and Business Manufacturing, Adelaide)
The best thing about this workshop was the psychological contract – I have sat through change sessions before but this was really different and I had not considered it before.
